Dear Andrew,

I was waiting for the news of your arrival

Now that you did land safe and sound on Nov. 7

May I present you with a short poem of congratulation?

Just like I did to the other Xiangyin newborns this year

But unlike the other nine

You came to a changed world

A world brimming with fear of terror

A world fighting thugs of the worst kind

Sept. 11 marks the turning point for all

19 terrorists hijacked four planes

Leveling the twin trade towers

Changing the shape of Pentagon

They even derailed the new presidency

Into fighting a global war against terror

The world realigned into two camps

Unimagined in the cold war era not long ago

It will take many more years for you

To grasp the full impact of the events

That are transpiring in the new millennium

Shaping up the uncertain time of your life

To fear is the biggest fear to fear

But thank goodness

You are not even capable of fearing

For that I congratulate to you

But you will grow up to grapple with fear

My prayer for you is simple

Be a fearless Christian soldier

Like Todd Beamer on United flight 93 (the fourth plane)

He was fearless toward imminent death

He recited Psalm 23 and the Lord's prayer

He issued the first directive of anti-terror campaign

"Let us roll"

Lo and behold

The world has rallied behind the call

Operation of Enduring Freedom

Has begun on a global scale

I surely had hoped you would grow up

In a world with great peace

But you are born to take

A mission to regain the security

May you succeed

Well before I become an old man

Or see untimely death

In yet another hijacked plane
